If I teach my baby to sign, would it make them not to talk when my baby get older?
No, it would help them to start talking at a earlier age. Babies who learn Baby Sign Language had a higher IQ's at early age, had more vocabularies earlier, understood more words earlier, increased communications between the baby and parents, less tantrums and frustrations, are more happier, have more interest in books, have more self confidence, and have more closer parent-infant bond.

How will I find the time to teach my baby/toddler?
You don't need to set up a special time to teach your baby/toddler how to sign. Teaching would be taught at the same time when you talk to your baby/toddler. Signing and talking with your baby/toddler occurs naturally with your normal day to day routines and playtimes.

Why should I learn babysigns when I already know what my baby wants?
**Without babysigns we are only assumming what our baby wants? It is true that our babies cries when he/she is hungery, wet, tired, or in pain. It usually takes us a few tries to find the right answers and he/she will stop crying.
**Signing with your baby will help to save you alot of time of trying to figure it out and lost of sleep. For example your baby wakes up in the middle of the night and you just changed him/her and fed her then in 30 mins later he/she is crying again. Then you are more concerned what else could be wrong? Is she/he in pain? or Stomach hurts? Then you rush him/her to the hospital and find there is nothing wrong and they give you some medicine to ease the discomfort for him/her till morning. What if your baby was afraid of the dark? You could have saved your sleep and trip!

Why teach my baby now when he or she won't talk till later?
The longer you wait the more your baby/toddler is trying to communicate to you by temper trantrum, screaming, pushing you away, kicking, throwing things, banging his/her head on the wall or floor, crying that won't stop. Normally they can start talking when they are about 11 to 12 months old. Finally your baby can say "mama or dada", but their vocabulary is limited and when they try to say "dog" they only could say "da", then you become confused. When you baby signs to you it can make the meaning become more clearer when he or she speaks.

But teaching American Sign Language (ASL) is too hard for my baby to sign.
Babies have limited small motor coordination, they will not be able to sign coordinated like adults can. However, the signs will be simple one sign made for his/her ability. For example your baby wants a bottle, he or she will sign for "bottle" in his/her ability to sign for bottle, like a fist to mouth or hand in a O shape to mouth. It does not have to be precise handshape. You will learn to recognize his/her signed approximation.
